Job description: Applicants (w / m / d) are expected to be able
to represent the Department of Science Communication in Research and
Teaching and to assume the scientific leadership of the Center for
Applied Cultural Studies and Studium Generale (ZAK)
.


Special emphasis in research and teaching could
lie in the following areas:


 Discourses on major societal challenges with
their relation to technology and social
controversies, eg demographic change, changes in
work, migration and integration, sustainable development
 Conditions and structures of diffusion of innovations in
a rapidly changing communication system
 Innovative approaches and technical procedures and processes Methods
for scientific communication with
non-scientific stakeholders
 Use and interaction of media
science communication


The W3 professorship is assigned to the Institute of Technology Futures (ITZ)
She teaches at the KIT Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences. Curriculum development,
module responsibility and, if necessary, study program coordination are expected
in particular for the courses "Science - Media -
Communication (WMK)" BA and MA.


The Institute for Science Communication at the ITZ has established
an interdisciplinary research institution in Karlsruhe
that is dedicated to the complex communication relationship between
science, technology and society. The interdisciplinary
study program Science - Media - Communication (BA and
M.A.) prepares students for the fields of science journalism,
science PR and research activities in the field of
"Science of Science Communication". The department cooperates
with the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik),
the Science Media Center, Germany (SMC) and the Institute for
Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) and it is
Member of the KIT Center "Humans and Technology".

ZAK is a central scientific institution of KIT.
Through applied research, interdisciplinary teaching and
public science, it strengthens interdisciplinary exchange at KIT and
promotes dialogue between science and society.


The ZAK
not only promotes
interdisciplinary and intercultural education through its diverse range of courses, supported by more than 80 lecturers in the ZAK, but with
its additional qualifications, such as the Accompanying
Studies in Applied Cultural Studies and the Sustainable Development Accompanying Program,
also focuses on orientation knowledge and the interdisciplinary
competence of students for studies, work and
society.
ZAK communicates research results and developments with public science , takes
up current social issues and puts them
into discussion with the interested public. In this way it secures
ZAK is also the social responsibility of KIT in
research, teaching and innovation.


KIT expects the future professor / professor
(w / m / d) to have a synergistically fruitful integration of this dual function
into research and teaching and thus a commitment in both the ITZ
and the ZAK.


Personal Qualification: We are looking for an experienced and scientifically broad
personality with an inter- and transdisciplinary focus in the
field of social and cultural sciences.


The position holder (w / m / d) is expected to have an
excellent thematically relevant research profile,
outstanding achievements in third-party funding and
proven teaching experience. Leadership experience is
required. We expect a colleague / colleague who is
involved in the self-administration bodies of the university.


Applicants (w / m / d) should have practical experience in science communication in addition to the usual
requirements (habilitation or equivalent academic
achievements, teaching experience)
