The position comprises the following tasks and responsibilities: Independent research with the aim of submitting a dissertation in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics and acquiring a doctoral degree Contribution to departmental research and teaching projects Independent teaching in German and in English and supervision of students Adequate participation in the administrative tasks and responsibilities of the department Participation in university committees, in university self-governance and in public relations activities of the department Requirements Diploma or master’s degree in economics or a related field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, econometrics or similar, including also related engineering programs, with a strong formal background) at a higher education institution Good academic record Good knowledge in at least one of the fields data analysis, quantitative economics, econometrics and/or statistics Some (preferably strong) experience in scientific programming (e.g., Python, R or MATLAB) Fluency in English (written and spoken) Desired skills First experiences in academic teaching and research First experiences in quantitative economics or similar fields Dedication to research in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics; preferably documented by first research results in, e.g., the master thesis or first publications Social and communication competences, interest in and ability to work in teams Strong motivation and output orientation Ability to work independently in (scientific) projects with a focus on high quality and precision Very good knowledge of German (level C1-C2) Additional information Our offer: This position serves the purposes of the vocational and scientific education of graduates of diploma or master’s degree programmes and sets the goal of completing a corresponding doctoral degree in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics.
