Tenure Track Professorship 
Media and Intersectionality

To occupy (full employment). 

In research and teaching, the role of the media in overlapping different categories of difference should be addressed, especially in terms of categories such as gender, but also ethnicity, class, nationality, sexuality and / or age. Good knowledge of the theories and methods of journalism and communication science as well as gender or intersectionality studies is required. The position is open to all epistemological approaches in the field of journalism and communication science. 

Your profile:

  • Doctorate / PhD and at least two years experience as a post-doc at a university or other research institution; As a rule, applicants must have gained research experience at least two years outside the University of Vienna during their doctoral studies or after completing their doctoral studies
  • Outstanding achievements and potential in research, excellent publication activity, international reputation
  • Experience in the design and implementation of research projects as well as willingness and ability to lead research groups, willingness to obtain third-party funds
  • Enthusiasm for excellent teaching, university teaching experience or a teaching concept as well as the willingness to teach in all curricular stages (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate), supervise theses and promote young scientists

The University of Vienna expects the job holder to acquire German language skills within three years, which will enable teaching in bachelor's degree programs and participation in university committees. 


We offer you:

  • the possibility of a permanent position and promotion to permanent university professor. The successful candidate starts as an "assistant professor" for a maximum of six years. If he / she fulfills the conditions of the qualification agreement, the promotion to / for the permanently employed Associate Professor takes place. If the qualification objectives are not achieved, the employment relationship ends when the contract period expires. Associate professors can be promoted to university professor in an internal competitive process.
  • Initial graduation at least according to the collective agreement for the employees of the universities: § 49 use group A2
