Teaching Fellow in Journalism Practice

Are you an experienced journalism practitioner with a passion for teaching? Are you a multiskilled journalist who can help prepare our students for the demands of video and audio production?

The School of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds is a highly ranked department with a vibrant research culture and a commitment to excellence in teaching. The School is seeking an experienced practitioner to teach a range of journalism and media production skills. The journalism requirements include finding and researching stories, interviewing relevant contributors and writing for TV and radio. The media production strand covers audio recording, filming, studio craft and editing for both broadcast and digital platforms. Our students are assessed on creating a variety of outputs including TV news reports, podcasts, digital videos for social media and feature length radio packages.

You will have extensive and up-to-date experience of professional broadcasting and digital media production relevant to journalism. You will be a confident and skilled communicator, interested in teaching (not simply training) the next generation of media practitioners. You will develop teaching methods that encourage students to engage with changing media environments.
