The position This new role is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Business Development & Commercialisation Team in the Division of Research & Enterprise focused on developing and closing technology and Research & Development related business deals including research partnerships (contract, collaborative, consulting) and IP commercialisation (licenses, spinouts/start-ups, Intellectual Property), based on UNSW knowledge and capability. The Director maintains key relationships with industry and business, UNSW Senior Management, Faculty Executive teams, Legal, key teams in the Division of Research & Enterprise, and Development, while also playing an integral role in ensuring that the University achieves its strategic research translation objectives. This position reports to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Industry & Innovation (PVCII) and has up to 7 direct reports.
About you: We are looking for an outstanding leader with extensive demonstrated experience in business development and stakeholder management at a senior leadership level and in motivating a team of professionals to deliver on key performance indicators. A deal doer with an outstanding track record of achievement in developing and closing technology related business deals including contract and collaborative research, consulting, IP licences, and start-ups. A proven performer with a proven track record in delivering initiatives and substantive revenue streams, through application of sound business and commercial acumen. You can draw on a trusted network of national and international contacts in industry, innovation and investment communities in designing and managing strategic initiatives.
