Research Fellow in Quantitative ResearchAre you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in quantitative research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities? You will join a team of experienced researchers at the University of Leeds working on a National Highways (NH) funded project titled ‘Improving performance through diversity and inclusion’. The construction industry is facing workforce and demographic challenges, which are impacting productivity. The industry is buoyant with many major infrastructure initiatives ongoing but its workforce is shrinking due to an aging, predominantly male population and a lack of new recruits. National Highways hopes to promote change in their workforce through more advanced Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives with the aim of attracting new and younger workers to the industry and retain more of those who leave, notably women and minorities. While research has yielded mixed results regarding the link between EDI and performance, the goal of this project is to provide empirical evidence that bolsters the economic and business case for EDI. Your main task will be to analyse quantitative data to establish a causal effect of EDI on performance. The primary statistical analysis will be based on longitudinal administrative data. You will also contribute to the design and analysis of original survey data. You will work in close collaboration with Professor Jennifer Tomlinson (https://business.leeds.ac.uk/research-ceric/staff/543/professor-jennifer-tomlinson) and Dr Danat Valizade (https://business.leeds.ac.uk/departments-work-employment-relations/staff/546/dr-danat-valizade) at the Work and Employment Relations Department. You will have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in work and employment relations or related disciplines (human resource management, sociology of work) and have expertise in advanced quantitative analysis. To explore the post further or for any queries you may have, please contact: Dr Danat Valizade, email: or Professor Jennifer Tomlinson, email: Location: Leeds - Main Campus
