The Chair of International Management is part of the Department of Business Administration (Institut für Betriebswirtschaftslehre) within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Information Technology. The focus of the chair is on strategic management, in particular the challenges that multinational enterprises face related to transformation & renewal, M&A, corporate governance, and other top management topics. Research at the chair draws upon current theoretical perspectives from strategic management and organization theory (in particular behavioral theory of the firm, organizational learning theory, and cognitive theory) and employs quantitative, qualitative, and simulation methods. Research projects typically combine a strong emphasis on theoretical and empirical rigor with practical relevance. The chair provides a highly research oriented environment focused on creating the platform for an international academic career for its members.

Your responsibilities

As a member of the Chair in International Management you will participate in research, teaching and administrative duties of the chair with a strong focus on pursuing an active resrach program.

Your profile

  • A doctoral degree in Business Administration or neighboring fields such as Applied Economics, or Industrial Engineering and Management with a focus on strategic management.
  • Proven expertise in quantitative or simulation methods.
  • Strong potential to publish research results in international top journals demonstrated, for instance, by published papers, or work under review or accepted at conferences. Applicants should also have developed a research program of international stature.
  • Excellent command of English (oral and written).

Start of employment

The earliest possible start date is September 1, 2021 with a later start date possible upon agreement. The position is initially for three years with the possibility to extend for an additional three years upon positive evaluation (3+3 years).
