Within the framework of the extension programme „Academisation of Healthcare Professions", which was initiated by the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry for Science, the DHBW Stuttgart is receiving comprehensive sponsorship.

The tender is aimed in particular at applicants who represent the discipline of Midwifery or Obstetrics in teaching, research and further education. You have a state-qualified midwife or male midwife and have many years of professional experience in midwifery. Medical doctors specialising in obstetrics or public healthcare with focus on women's health, neonates and children and who are highly committed to the academisation of midwives are also invited to apply.

The range of tasks include teaching in healthcare scientific and midwifery-specific subjects, as well as accompanying/instructing students in theory and practical modules. Additional competences in developing degree programmes as well as willingness to participate in the development of the inter-professional Master's degree programmes in Healthcare, complete your profile. Publication in scientific journals and the ability of raising third-party funding are a requirement. You are able to offer lectures in English.

For this position, you require a high level of professional and personal commitment to teaching. In addition, we expect that you enjoy supporting students. Your willingness to participate in cooperative research is also required, as is the working in committees.

The position also entails the temporary take over as a head of department.


In accordance with §47 LHG, a completed university degree, special scientific qualification (usually PhD), pedagogical aptitude, as well as at least five years of professional experience, of which at least three years were obtained outside a university environment. Willingness to participate in scientific development, in particular research and scientific training, is expected.

We expect a high level of commitment, willingness to cooperate with the participating companies and social institutions as well as the willingness to perform committee work.

If all requirements are met, an appointment as civil servant with unlimited tenure is possible, after three years of civil servant on probation, under the condition that at the time of entry, the applicant is not older than 47 years, or in exceptional cases, 52 years. The DHBW aims to increase the proportion of woman in teaching and research positions, therefore applications from woman are encouraged.
