The USC School of Cinematic Arts John C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts is seeking applicants for a full Professor with tenure position in the field of 3-D character animation. The candidate must have feature-level experience animating 3-D characters, and possess a strong understanding of digital animation production, animation concepts and the ability to translate storyboards into emotional and physical character performances. An animation reel depicting the candidate’s professional experience in both acting and action scenes including dialog is essential. Recent feature animation experience and prior undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience is preferred.

 

Founded in 1929 as a collaboration with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the USC School of Cinematic Arts offers the world’s most comprehensive curriculum in moving image media, with divisions in Film & Television Production, Writing, Animation, Cinema & Media Studies, Interactive Media & Games, Media Arts + Practice, and Producing. Its faculty are leading practitioners in their fields, and its global network of more than 14,000 alumni includes some of the entertainment industry’s most celebrated practitioners. Minimum Education:   BFA or BA degree in accredited art or animation program or equivalent professional experience.

 

Minimum Experience:  At least 15 years of feature-level experience animating 3-D characters. A working knowledge of Maya software is essential. Demonstrated teaching excellence required, ideally at the college level, but inclusive of professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.

 

Preferred Education:  MFA degree in accredited art or animation program or equivalent professional experience.

 

Preferred Experience:  At least 20 years of feature-level experience animating 3-D characters. Animation industry experience supervising and directing character animation for features is desirable. Prior undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience is preferred.
