Postdoc Position in Quantitative/Computational Economics

The Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO) at the University of Copenhagen invites application for a fixed-term postdoc position (duration 30 months) in the areas of quantitative/computational economics, with special reference to computable general equilibrium modeling and its application to international trade and climate change economics. The position is expected to commence on July 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job Description

Within the Department of Food and Resource Economics, the postdoc position will be placed in the Production, Market and Policy section. The position is funded through a multi-year research project aiming at developing in-depth understanding of the future of the livestock and animal food sector. The animal food sector is facing a multitude of challenges, such as differential income, demographical, and consumer preference changes that may increase demand from some parts of the world while stagnating demand from elsewhere. Heightened attentions to climate change may require the animal food sector to be an active participant of climate mitigation efforts. Trade conflicts and regional trade agreements add further uncertainties on how such products will be traded globally in the future. The postdoc will join several other team members to apply and develop appropriate modeling tools to conduct rigorous model-based analysis and projections on the development of the sector in the coming decades. Results from the project are expected to appear in reputable academic journals and to be communicated to key stakeholders in the wider society.

In addition to the research tasks, the postdoc is also expected to contribute to the research environment at the Department, including but not limited to participations in the department’s seminar series, and engaging in scientific discussions with other researchers. Other duties include appropriate amount of teaching duties in international trade and quantitative methods courses, and co-supervision of bachelor and master’s theses.

Further information on the Department can be found at
Inquiries about the position can be directed to Professor Bo Jellesmark Thorsen (Department Head) or Professor Wusheng Yu (project leader).

The position is open from July 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
