Permanent Whole Time Post

The School of Law at University College Cork wishes to appoint the Matheson Lecturer in Law, Innovation and Technology to contribute to the development of the School’s research, programmes and engagement ambitions. Generously sponsored by the leading Irish law firm Matheson, the post is designed to provide the School of Law with an expert at the cutting edge of Law and areas such as Artificial Intelligence and disruptive technologies and who is also expected to engage in interdisciplinary research in fields such as data analytics and computer science. The Matheson Lecturer will engage in the exciting UCC Futures agenda (UCC Futures - Securing our future through excellence in research), notably the Futures cluster on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. The Matheson Lecturer will also be expected to engage on these issues with Matheson, the legal profession and society more broadly. The Matheson Lecturer will also be expected to contribute to relevant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, in particular to contribute to and potentially lead the LLM in Intellectual Property and E-Law and contribute to relevant interdisciplinary programmes including any aligned with relevant UCC Futures. Moreover, the Matheson Lecturer will be expected to be involved in the recruitment and supervision of the Matheson PhD scholar(s), also generously sponsored by Matheson in the field of law, innovation and technology.

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €37,912 - €66,429 (Scale B) / €39,939 - €63,211 (Scale A)

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
