The Digital Media Management (DMM) program at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism seeks a qualified Adjunct Lecturer to teach the course DMM-500 Principles and Theories of Digital Media Management. This course explores the digital media environment, its sociohistorical evolution, and the impact of digital technologies and media on practices within cultural and business ecosystems. In this course, the Adjunct Lecturer will teach students how to:

  • Examine digital business and technological practices through the lens of social justice and ethics.
  • Evaluate the real-world impacts of technologies and digital media on society and culture.
  • Distinguish between representational digital media practices to discern normative patterns.
  • Apply grounding digital media literacies that serve as scaffolding for future applied practice.

 

Ideal candidates will have at least 10 years of experience in digital media management, along with teaching experience in marketing, digital media, or other fields of applied communication.

Qualifications:

 

Preferred Education: A master’s or Ph.D. in communication, public relations, marketing, business management or related fields.

 

Preferred Experience: Minimum 10 years professional experience within a corporation, university, or independent consultancy. Teaching experience in marketing, digital media, or other fields of applied communication. Demonstrated ability to coach and help students achieve their academic and professional goals.

 

The hourly range for this position is $$45.46 - $54.11. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

 

USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
