About This Opportunity 

 

Exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to focus their efforts on leveraging their established record of achievement in teaching and service and engagement within UQ Business School's Master of Business Analytics.

 

Key responsibilities will include: 

 

1. Teaching and Learning

  • Assist in the development of new programs and course material in the Master of Business Analytics (MBA) Program, by consulting with program advisors and stakeholders, ensuring courses are engaging, relevant and contemporary.

  • Coordinate and teach online courses and collaborate on educational practice and innovative curriculum design including online learning and student engagement, as well as customising content to meet the needs of a varied student base (including Managers and Executives)

  • Undertake teaching, including collaboration on course coordination, lecturing, tutoring, consultation and the preparation of teaching and assessment materials and marking for the MBA Program

  • Contribute to the creation of a case study portfolio for real world business analytics and data-driven innovation and transformation

  • Collaborate with the faculty learning team and industry partners to create opportunities for Work Integrated Learning (WIL)

  • Maintain and improve the quality of courses as measured through evaluation instruments to meet industry and educational standards.

  • Provide high quality service to students, including academic counselling and advice

  • Understand and apply University Rules relevant to teaching and learning practice.

 

2. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

  • Consistently undertake activities that develop a knowledge base of effective MBA Program pedagogical practices.

  • Work with colleagues in the development of quality projects which explore, test, implement and communicate new or improved approaches towards pedagogical practices.

  • Participate in applications for external funding to support projects and activities promoting improved pedagogies.

  • Develop an emerging profile in teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

 

3. Citizenship and Service

  • Shows leadership of self through collaboration and active participation in priority activities for the MBA program

  • Begin to develop external links by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community in the area of business analytics and related topics

  • Engage UQ Business School’s stakeholders by participating in analytics-related conferences, workshops, hackathons, and student events

  • Actively help with establishing an industry partnership model for Master of Business Analytics.

  • Provide support to other academic positions as needed and during absences.

  • Perform a range of administrative functions as required and other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.

This is a part-time (20%), fixed-term position through to December 2023 at Academic Level A.3. The full-time equivalent base salary will be $82,320.76, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $96,315.29 annually.

About You  

  • Completion of a PhD in the area of Business Analytics or extensive Industry experience in business analytics

  • National recognition in the business analytics area in industry or academia

  • Ability to review and refine course content and teach at postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.

  • Ability to perform course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.

  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.
