UNSW is based in Sydney, Australia’s largest city and business capital.  Sydney is a cosmopolitan and multicultural city with an outstanding climate and rich arts and sports scenes.  The campus is located 6km from the Sydney Central Business District and is close to Sydney’s iconic beaches. Successful applicants may be provided with a relocation allowance and relocation support within the faculty.

About the role:

The School of Banking and Finance has a strong research culture and a strong record of top tier finance scholarship.  The School provides support for research through an extensive suite of databases and generous conference travel funding.  The School has strong ties with international business schools facilitated by vibrant seminar and brown-bag series and a well-established program of prominent international visiting academics.  Our faculty also have strong links with industry. The School also hosts the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference in December which is now in its 34th year. 

The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  

An attractive salary package will be negotiated with successful applicants. Teaching loads are competitive, and new faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching load in their first year. Subject to satisfactory performance, all faculty may apply for a fully funded six-month sabbatical leave after three years of service


To be eligible you should be near completion or have completed a PhD in Finance, Financial Economics, or a related field. In addition to new PhDs, we also encourage seasoned candidates with a strong research pipeline and international presence to apply.
