The School of Business at the University of Washington Bothell invites applications for one full-time (100% FTE) 9-month, not tenure eligible Lecturer position in Accounting. This position is for a 3-year term and is eligible for renewal. The appointment will begin on September 16, 2020.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of accounting courses including some combination of Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Auditing at the graduate and undergraduate levels, depending on the needs of the program. The Lecturer Full-Time will typically be required to teach 8 total courses per academic year, 1 quarter each in length. The position will also involve engagement in accounting curriculum design, AACSB and other accreditation and assessment of learning procedures, and staying informed about major research methodologies used in contemporary scholarly and professional research and recent publications in professional journals. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to service activities such as alumni relations, participation in Beta Alpha Psi and other external relationship building with the accounting profession and other employers. The faculty member may also act an advisor to Beta Alpha Psi. . The School of Business encourages collegiality and accounting faculty members should expect to be able to interact with colleagues from other business sub-disciplines. The University of Washington Bothell campus was established in 1990 as a campus within the University of Washington system. Student are often placed at nearby companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Expedia, ICOS, Amgen and Phillips. The School of Business also includes a facility, the Eastside Leadership Center in Bellevue, WA, that currently serves our undergraduate and graduate students. All faculty members in the School of Business should expect to teach at both Bothell and Bellevue locations. Although the undergraduate program is currently located at the Bothell Campus, our MS Accounting Program is offered exclusively at the Bellevue campus in the evening. Faculty members have complete access to the computing and library resources of the University of Washington system, including commonly used Financial databases via WRDS. The UW Bothell School of Business is accredited by AACSB and is deeply committed to the success of its faculty on both research and teaching fronts. The culture is collegial and accounting faculty members should expect to be able to interact with colleagues from other business sub-disciplines.

A successful candidate will possess at minimum a Master’s Degree in Accounting or related Field (or a foreign equivalent) and a demonstrable record of teaching effectiveness. Positive factors for consideration for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Accounting or related field; 2) Industry experience in Accounting and/or auditing and/or tax. 3) Professional certificates such as CPA or CMA.
