Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is looking for an outstanding scholar in entrepreneurship, who is passionate about delivering world-leading research and exceptional student experience. This role is particularly suitable for an enthusiastic academic leader who shows willingness and ability to lead the Section of Entrepreneurship & Innovation and promote the academic talent and career development of junior staff.

What do we require of you?

Candidates for this position could be either economics scholars or management/business scholars.

Candidates should further have the following qualifications:

  • an academic title on at least Associate Professor level;
  • excellence in research and teaching: top publications, research grants and outstanding teaching evaluations;
  • a department leader with a clear vision, ability to execute, and willingness to contribute to a pleasant atmosphere in the section and the school;
  • excellent coaching and mentoring skills to help other researchers;
  • a track record in PhD supervision;
  • be part of an extensive network in the international entrepreneurship research community.

Extra’s would be:

  • advisor roles on entrepreneurship for the government or other (non-profit/commercial) organisations;
  • experience in setting-up successful entrepreneurial eco-systems;
  • knowledge of creative industries or social enterprises;
  • founder or advisor to start-ups;
  • knowledge of Data Science or Artificial Intelligence applied to business areas that are of interest to start-ups, such as Fintech, Marketing Analytics, People Analytics, etc.

Our offer

Candidates will be offered a full-time (38 hours) full professor position (HL1/HL2) with a gross salary €5,749, and €10,106. In addition to this, UvA offers pension benefits. For further appointment details we refer to Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

Candidates from outside the Netherlands may be eligible for substantial income tax benefits for a limited period.

About us

The Amsterdam Business School (ABS) is one of the two schools of the UvA’s Faculty of Economics and Business. ABS has almost 3,000 students and the equivalent of 120 full-time academic staff. The school’s core subjects are Corporate Governance, Entrepreneurship, and Big Data / Business Analytics.

Six sections conduct research that is published in prestigious international journals. They also provide various degree programmes including a BSc programme and six MSc programmes, a wide range of postgraduate programmes featuring three MBAs, four accountancy programmes and Lean Six Sigma programmes, and an extensive portfolio of open courses and in-company projects.

The offered position is within the Marketing section, which is currently home to around 15 faculty members, in addition to a number of PhD candidates and affiliated faculty. Particularly, ABS plans to substantially grow the Marketing group over the next years. ABS has a broad variety of corporate contacts within and outside of Amsterdam and utilizes these contacts in research and curricular activities. In addition, ABS opened its brand-new behavioural research laboratory in 2016.
