Situated within the College of Business, the School of Vocational Business Education (VBE) offers a broad range of globally oriented, applied training and education, from Certificate to Associate Degree level, nationally and internationally (Indonesia and China) to approximately 4000 students.

The Business Services Industry Group delivers core generalist business programs in the fields of Information Technology, Business, Leadership, Management, Administration, Project Management and Small Business start-ups.  Programs are delivered on-campus and to industry using a range of teaching methods and contemporary learning technologies.

The School is currently inviting expressions of interest for sessional teachers who are interested in training and assessment for a proposed Certificate IV level traineeships program.


The Role and Experience Required

Subject expertise is required in the fields of:

  • Analysis of client expectations and needs together with recommendations of business system changes
  • Copyright, ethics and privacy in ICT environments
  • Determination of cyber security requirements of an organisation and using a range of sources to protect valuable assets
  • Implementation of WHS, sustainability and EEO and anti-discrimination practices in an ICT environment
  • Identification of emerging technologies and practices in the ICT sector and evaluation of the potential impact on organisational practices
  • Identification, planning and building scripts, using a scripting language to construct a highly interactive and automated software application
  • Installation, configuration and support of a desktop or workstation operating system in a networked environment
  • Designing and creating basic markup language documents and cascading style sheets to define the structure and style of a website
  • Service management principles when working in an ICT service desk environment
  • Utilisation of networking fundamentals, including WAN technologies, basic security, routing and switching fundamentals and configuring simple networks
  • Identification, selection and operation of commercial software packages, including for example, a word processing, spreadsheet and database application package
  • Selection and implementation of virtualisation solutions to meet organisational needs in an ICT environment
  • Installation and initial configuration, ongoing administration, testing, monitoring and troubleshooting servers
  • Development of asset protection processes, determination of threats and implementation of controls to mitigate risk
  • Installation, configuration and testing of network security for networks of any size
  • Undertaking scripted programming tasks for networking-related activities
  • Selection of cloud storage solutions based on the analysis of organisational requirements
  • Provision of frontline support to users and application of technical and specialised knowledge to fault finding and problem solving
  • Compilation and evaluation of business specifications from a client and production of viable business solutions. This applies to network design and technical solutions for ICT networks
  • Installation and integration of a virtual server in a network to replace multiple physical servers, reducing power to meet sustainability targets


Qualifications, experience and skills required:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • Recent teaching experience in Vocational Education
  • A commitment to supporting student learning
  • A high level of course administrative skill
  • Have an interest and experience in both on-campus and industry facilitation - particularly traineeship delivery
  • Diploma of VET is highly regarded
