Penn State Great Valley is seeking a Director for its REV-UP Center for Entrepreneurship. The primary role of this position is to direct the activities of the REV-UP Center for Entrepreneurship, one of 21 innovation hubs established across the Commonwealth under President Barron’s Invent Penn State Initiative. The Director will be responsible for increasing the visibility of REV-UP in the entrepreneurial community by establishing a program of events and activities to attract and support early stage entrepreneurs, including faculty, students, and members of the local community, in their efforts. The Director will also oversee and coordinate the mentorship program, which will enlist the support of established entrepreneurs to assist others with similar interests and will actively seek out potential clients for the REV-UP incubator program. The Director will coordinate with the Faculty Director to develop innovative academic programs to increase student expertise in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation. Penn State fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the communities we serve. The successful candidate will have prior experience in business startup and workforce development as well as a passion for entrepreneurship. Interested candidates must possess a willingness to collaborate on both grant writing and fundraising efforts, work with an established network in the Great Valley business community, the ability to network with corporate leaders, a mastery of current concepts driving innovation and technology, a broad understanding of the mission of higher education, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to provide vision and structure for a new project without established parameters. A typical schedule for this position includes day, evening, and occasional weekend hours depending upon appointments and programming. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The position will require coordination with the Office of Research and Sponsored programs as well as the campus Director of Development to raise funds to support the Center. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
