The Department of Economics invites applications for a newly-created endowed chair entitled the Paul W. and Catherine A. Boltz Chair in History of Monetary Policy.  This Chair will be a full-time tenured position at the rank of Full Professor within the Department of Economics.  Dr. Boltz was an alumnus of the Department’s Ph.D. Program (1974) and had a successful career in the financial industry.  In keeping with his interests, applicants are expected to have a background in monetary economics and international finance, and research interests in monetary policy and financial institutions.

The Department offers a Ph.D. degree, a professional Master’s degree (MSPE), and three undergraduate degrees (B.A. in Economics, B.S. in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics, and B.S. in Computer Science and Economics).  The Ph.D., MSPE, and B.S. degrees are STEM degrees.   For more information, see http://www.economics.illinois.edu.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Economics, or an equivalent degree. Applicants must have an outstanding research record and the ability to contribute effectively to the instruction and supervision of students in the department’s degree programs. Successful candidates are expected to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an active and independent research program, and provide service to the Department, the University, and the Economics profession.  Salary will be commensurate with the research record, qualifications and accomplishments. The target starting date is August 16, 2021.
