Description of Duties:

The College of Business Management is an AACSB-accredited business school, and one of the six colleges at SUNY Poly. We offer graduate degrees in Accountancy (MSA) and Technology Management (MBA), and undergraduate degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, and Finance. Currently, most undergraduate classes are taught on campus, and all graduate classes are delivered completely online. Strategic initiatives are being taken to foster innovative learning environments through hybrid delivery modes, joint programs, and cohort offerings at high-demand locations.

We seek to fill two tenure-track positions in Accounting, at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor, depending on experience and educational attainment at the time of employment.

Faculty members in these positions in the College of Business Management are expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Accounting courses such as Financial Accounting, Income Tax, Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics, Auditing, Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination in online, hybrid and on-campus modes.
  • Sustain strong and active research agenda and scholarship in Accounting or related fields that meet or exceed the requirements for AACSB's faculty qualification status (i.e., Scholarly Academic or Practice Academic).
  • Engage in professional or academic activities in campus-based, local, regional or broader communities in an effort to make a positive impact and advance the recognition and reputation of the College and SUNY Poly.
  • Actively participate on on-campus and off-campus research seminars and other collaborative professional development activities to build collaborations between and among SUNY Poly faculty and with external partners.
  • Be actively involved in student advising and mentoring, assessment and assurance of learning, curriculum design and revision, as well as committee service at all levels of the Institute.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:


  • PhD (or ABD) in Accounting or a related field from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization (preferably AABCS-accredited), or
  • PhD (or ABD) from an institution accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization (preferably AABCS-accredited) in an interdisciplinary or emerging field related to Accounting or Business, emphasizing advanced foundational research in areas such as business analytics, online instruction, curriculum design, business education, etc. and a Master of Science or MBA degree with a concentration in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • ABD Candidates must demonstrate a reasonable expectation of completing the PhD within one year of employment.

AACSB faculty status

  • Qualified as "Scholarly Academic" under AACSB criteria, either by ABD status or by recently published research articles in well-recognized peer reviewed journals in Accounting or related fields.
