The Milgard School of Business at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for an experienced full-time non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in business analytics. This position has a 9-month service period, is eligible for a multi-year appointment, and begins on September 16, 2022 (Autumn Quarter).   

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of business analytics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in an urban-serving campus environment which includes many first-generation college students.  Duties will include  teaching in multiple modalities, including online, hybrid and in-person, as well as teaching in an urban-serving campus environment with a diverse student body, many of whom are first generation college students. The course load varies from 7-8 classes depending on qualifications, experience, and courses taught. 

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a record of involvement, participation, and/or leadership that maintains qualification required for accreditation (AACSB) purposes.

The successful candidate will also assist in the development of curriculum, promote continuous improvement, and actively collaborate with colleagues in service of our school and university’s mission.   The successful applicant is expected to be an integral member of a team of faculty and staff that are committed to excellence and further expanding a growing successful center for business analytics and analytics innovations programs at UW Tacoma. The successful candidate will be expected to provide meaningful service to the university, the business school, and the community.

In addition, we are seeking candidates whose teaching interests will strengthen and complement the Milgard School’s core values of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in pedagogy, teaching, and practice with a diverse student body, many of whom are first generation college students.

The School’s Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility and Center for Business Analytics offer opportunities for teaching, research and community outreach related to its mission. The AACSB-accredited Milgard School currently has more than 650 students in its undergraduate, MBA, Masters of Science Accounting (MSAcc), Masters in Business Analytics (MSBA), and Masters in Cybersecurity and Leadership (MCL) programs, in addition to undergraduate minor in business data analytics. Qualifications

Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Business Analytics, Management Information Systems/Technology, Operations Management, Data Science, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in BA, MIS, DS, IE, CS or OM and real-world experience related to the business data analytics field; teaching interests related to any or all of the following: business intelligence/analytics, data/text mining, database management, business process management, prescriptive analytics, analytical decision-making, machine learning, cognitive analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity analytics, information systems/technology, R and/or Python Programming, cloud services for analytics and supply chain/logistics analytics.

In addition to having a strong teaching record, applicants must demonstrate a research record or record of academic/professional engagement related to business data analytics field.
