The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. While both positions will focus on integrating communication instruction into the engineering curriculum, one will specifically support second language learners, including: Developing and delivering language diagnostics. Providing ongoing curricular language support. Designing co-curricular programs for professional language development. Qualifications Applicants must have earned a PhD in engineering, technical communication, or a related area (such as English, Applied Linguistics, Rhetoric, Engineering Education, or Engineering) by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, and must demonstrate excellence in teaching. Required qualifications: Teaching experience in a degree-granting program (lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and online instruction). Strong foundation in engineering communication theory and pedagogy. Experience integrating written, oral, and visual communication instruction within STEM (especially engineering/engineering design) courses. Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical inquiry and teaching-related scholarly activities. Preferred/asset qualifications: Experience supporting English professional language development for multilingual learners. Experience teaching graduate-level writing and communication (e.g., proposals, research articles, theses). Experience integrating transdisciplinary competencies (teamwork, leadership, ethics, equity, lifelong learning, CEAB graduate attributes). Experience teaching communication skills to mature technology professionals. The successful applicant will teach in multiple courses and programs, contributing to the Engineering Communication Program and ISTEP’s mandate to integrate communication across FASE’s core undergraduate curricula.
