Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Analytics

The Operations Management and Information Systems (OMIS) Area, Schulich School of Business, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Supply Chain Analytics at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2021. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD, or a PhD defense scheduled by the start of the appointment on July 1, 2021, in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Management Science or a related field, preferably from a school of business, is required, with a demonstrated record of excellence or promise of excellent in research and in teaching. Applicants should have a clearly articulated program of research or research creation and specialize (a) in Sourcing, Logistics, and/or Transportation and (b) in advanced statistical, econometric, and/or data analytical methods for analyzing large datasets from structured (e.g., archival data maintained by government agencies) and unstructured (e.g., Twitter) sources. Applicants should have completed or be completing dissertation research on managerially relevant problems facing for-profit organizations, non-profits or society.

The successful candidate will be expected to engage in outstanding, innovative, and, as appropriate, externally funded research or research creation at the highest level.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence or promise of research excellence of a recognized international calibre, as demonstrated through the research statement; a record of publications, forthcoming publications, or publications under review in top disciplinary journals, particularly those on the Financial Times or UT Dallas listings to rank business schools globally; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.

The successful candidate will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching and must be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. More specifically, candidates should be willing and able to teach effectively various courses in (a) the Master of Supply Chain Management (MSCM) and either (b) the Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) or the Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) programs. Candidates should also be willing and able to communicate with managerial audiences in formal teaching settings. Preference is also given to candidates who have taught or have a strong potential to teach using a combination of quantitative, analytical experiential, and case-based pedagogies, as well as with using technologies to deliver course content and enhance student learning. Experience in curriculum development is an asset.

Candidates should provide evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching through the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
