The following position will be filled at the Department of Economics, Analytics and Operations Research, Chair of Microeconomics and Game Theory (Prof. Schweinzer) - at the Faculty of Management, Economics & Law with an anticipated starting date of October 1, 2026:

Assistant Professor (postdoc), non-tenure track (all genders welcome)

Level of employment: 100 % (40 hours/week)

Your responsibilities – what awaits you

• Contribution to the main research area of Microeconomics and Game Theory with a focus on General Equilibrium Theory, Contract Theory and/or Mechanism Design Theory;
• Independent teaching at the university as well as supervision of student work;
• Independent research and publication (the position comes with substantial travel funding) with the aim of habilitation;
• Contribution to the departmental research agenda, teaching, administration, and quality assurance measures;
• Organisation and acquisition of funded projects as well as participation in departmental research projects;
• Substantive and organisational participation in workshops, conferences and other events;
• Participation in the management and development of the department as well as its national and international networks.

Your profile

• Doctoral degree in Economics or related subjects (Mathematics, Operations Research etc.) at a domestic or foreign higher education institution;
• Excellent knowledge of Microeconomics, Game Theory, Contract Theory and/or Mechanism Design Theory;
• Proficiency and ability to teach in English;
• Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality autonomous scientific research.

This distinguishes you additionally

• Specialisation in either General Equilibrium Theory, Game Theory, Contract Theory or Mechanism Design Theory;
• Co-specialisation in the field of Environmental Economics;
• High-quality, peer-reviewed publications;
• Good teaching skills and/or experience in teaching at tertiary level;
• Knowledge of German of at least level A2;
• Experience working abroad;
• Social competence and ability to work in a team;
• Willingness to participate in the research activities of the chair;
• Willingness to participate in shaping the profile of the chair.
