The University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Political Science seeks a scholar in international relations for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. The appointment may concentrate on any research specialty within the field of international relations, although we are particularly interested in substantive scholarship that relates to the Department’s strong interdisciplinary foci in the study of identity or the environment. While we are open with respect to methodological or theoretical approach, the successful candidate must be qualified to teach core graduate seminars in international relations. The candidate’s research should be theoretically informed and must demonstrate mastery of appropriate research methods.

The minimum requirement to be considered an applicant is the completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. (or equivalent degree), except the dissertation, in Political Science (or related field) at the time of application. Ph.D. preferred.
