We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and professional practice in the area of Accounting within the School of Social Sciences and the University of Dundee School of Business (UDSB). Preference will be given to candidates who have an interest in developing the accounting profession, experience of accreditation (with the main accountancy based professional bodies) and an interest in tax and audit. The successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in the teaching of our successful post-graduate Masters of Professional Accounting programme as well as supporting our undergraduate teaching, and any new programmes we will develop in the field. In addition to teaching and administrative duties, the successful candidate will bring to the role excellence in scholarship and professional practice with demonstrable impact on the development of professional accountants. .

Summary of Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Person Specification Essential:

-             PhD or equivalent professional experience

-             Fellowship or Membership of one of the main professional bodies in accounting (ACCA, ICAS, CIMA, CIPFA, CAI, ICAEW etc.)

-             Clear evidence of excellence in University learning and teaching

-             Experience of teaching accounting particularly tax, audit and management accounting

-             Experience of setting, marking, assessing work and examinations and providing feedback to students

-             Experience of supervision of undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate student projects

-             Ability to develop links with the main professional accounting bodies including accreditation

-             Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-             Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others

-             Evidence of effective team membership

-             Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands

-             Ability to engage and travel in occasional overseas recruitment activities

 Desirable:

-             Experience of curriculum development and review

-             Experience of successful international recruitment

-             Experience of Public Engagement

-             Membership of the Higher Education Academy
