At the Grieg Academy - Department of Music, there is a non-profit (20%) for four years as associate professor II within the subject area composition. Addition is desired from 01.08.2019.

 

Arbeidsoppgåver / research area:


For the position, teaching assignments are attached to the subject of study composition within the study program BA in music or composition, and to the master program in performing music, possibly PhD. guidance. The host will provide individual tuition in the main discipline composition, as well as group instruction within the subject area. Teaching assignments related to contemporary music and composition techniques for practitioners can and will be relevant.

 

Qualifications and attributes:

  • PhD degree in composition, or documented competence as associate professor within the subject area.
  • Documented artistic work or development work at a high international level as a composer.
  • Competence within music technology and / or music analysis, interdisciplinary competence (as documented by publications, lectures osb).
  • Documented relevant practical-pedagogical competence on the basis of the applicant's education and teaching / guidance knowledge.

The best qualified applicants will be called in for an interview by an internal interview group, and will have to hold trial teaching for staff and students at the department.

In addition, emphasis will be placed on:

  • Educational abilities and commitment
  • Ability to teach individually and in groups, in composition, electro-acoustic composition and music analysis (20th and 21st century music). The focus will be on research-based art music composition at the bachelor's and master's level.
  • Good collaboration skills with emphasis on dialogue and inclusive professional communication
  • Perspective on higher art education and experience from teaching at university level
  • Organizational abilities and experience
