We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position as head of the Department of Digitalization.

 

The position offers great opportunities to produce digitalization and data analytics research, teaching and communication of high international standard and relevance to Danish society.  

 

CBS would like to fill the position by June 2019.  

 

Your responsibilities as head of department include:

  • ensuring the department’s contribution to the developmentand execution of CBS’ overall strategy  

  • implementing the department’s strategy forresearch, education and administration  

  • a long-term development of the department’sacademic work field  

  • encouraging a positive research environment andwork climate  

  • maintaining a well-run department, includingfinancial performance, administration, and collaboration with other units at CBS  

  • managing a highly qualified staff ofresearchers, lecturers, and administrators through focused recruitmentand staff development  

  • contributing actively to ensuring genderbalance among staff  

  • ensuring coherence between the department’sresearch and education, as well as the fulfilment of the educational responsibilities  

  • providing for quality and coherence in thedepartment’s research, publications, education and knowledgedissemination, including follow-up on evaluations of researchers andeducation  

  • attracting external funding of researchactivities and relevant projects at the department.  

Experience and professional profile  

 

The ideal candidate:  

  • is an internationally acknowledged andrespected scholar in information systems or a related field  

  • can present management results from a researchand educational institution   

  • has credibility and impact in relation todepartment staff, students and other heads, and generates involvementand collaboration when formulating and executing department and CBSstrategies  

  • has a keen eye for identifying, developing andmotivating talents  

  • understands and sees the possibilities ofcreating academic and development synergies between departments at CBS  

  • can contribute to the overall managementdiscussion and development in CBS’ management forums as well as thecollegial leadership development among the CBS heads of department  

  • contributes to the department’s and CBS’ international exposure  

  • maintains and develops a relevant professionaland personal network.

The Department of Digitalization  

The Department of Digitalization (DIGI) is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. The Department of Digitalization conducts research within the following research areas related to information technology and information systems:  

  • Design

The department primarily teaches in the following degree programmes:  

  • Bachelor in Business Administration and Information Systems  

  • Bachelor in Information Management

  • MSc in Business Administration and Information Systems  

  • MSc in Business Administration and E-business  

  • MSc in Business Administration and Information Systems – Data Science  

The Center for Business Data Analytics at CBS, which conducts research and teaching in applied data science, is an integrated part of the Department.

Terms of appointment  

A position as head of department is a 5-year limited tenure. It is possible to extend the tenure for another 3 years. Salary, duration and terms of appointment are open to negotiation.  

 

The position is filled in accordance with the Danish collective agreement for academics, as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), and in accordance with the Danish University Act and CBS' bylaws.  

 

The appointment committee will evaluate the applications in accordance with the rules and guidelines of CBS in force at any time.
