Scientific staff with a doctorate goal at the University of Bayreuth in cooperation with the Project Group Business Information Systems of the Fraunhofer FIT (Salary bracket 13 TV-L) 

The project group Business Information Systems at Fraunhofer FIT works together across locations at the Universities of Augsburg and Bayreuth. At the University of Bayreuth, the research area Digital Business Models is represented by the following chairs and professorships:

  • Prof. Dr. Torsten Eymann (Chair of Business Administration VII - Business Informatics)

  • Prof. Dr. Maximilian Röglinger (Chair of Business Informatics and Value-Oriented Process Management)

  • Prof. Dr. Nils Urbach (Chair of Business Informatics and Strategic IT Management)


The Digital Business Models research area aims to explore the impact of digital technologies on the elements and levels of business models across multiple industries. In addition to the transformation of existing business models for a digital future, the disruptive nature of digitization within products, companies and industries will be examined. As part of our research activities, we therefore focus on the following areas:


  • Digital and data-driven business models

  • Digital transformation

  • Digital ecosystems

  • Hybrid Product Bundles (Product Service Systems)


Your tasks:


  • Structured analysis of business model innovations

  • Systematic development of strategies for digital transformation

  • Investigation of the "Business R & D" concept against the background of digitization

What you should bring with you: 

  • An excellent university degree in economics, (economic) computer science, (business) mathematics, industrial engineering, natural sciences or related disciplines

  • Advanced knowledge in business model structuring and business model innovation

  • Advanced knowledge in the field of digital transformation of companies

  • Very good analytical skills, if possible basic programming skills

  • Teamwork, motivation, initiative, motivation and flexibility

  • Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the dutiful assumption of responsibility

  • Very sure expression in both German and English


The required qualification must already be demonstrated in the application documents by means of corresponding certificates.
