The project group Business Information Systems at Fraunhofer FIT works together across locations at the Universities of Augsburg and Bayreuth. The main topic strategic IT management is represented by the following professors at the University of Bayreuth:

  • Prof. Dr. Maximilian Röglinger (Business Informatics and Value-Oriented Process Management)

  • Prof. Dr. Nils Urbach (Business Informatics and Strategic IT Management)

  • Prof. Dr. Torsten Eymann (Chair of Business Administration VII - Business Informatics)

 

In the research area Strategic IT Management we deal with the economic and technological aspects of Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT) as well as their targeted planning, control and organization in the context of digitization. Our goal is to translate scientific findings and methods into practice-relevant questions, thus enabling the digital transformation of companies and thereby recognizing, assessing and applying disruptive technologies. The focus of our research is currently on the five main topics: 

 

  • Analysis of dependency structures, eg in cloud computing

  • Evaluation of digital technologies, such as Blockchain  

  • Project portfolio and risk management 

  • IT strategy, governance and IT organization 

 

 

Your tasks:  

 

  • Evaluation of Digital Technologies

  • Analysis of Dependency Structures in Cloud Computing

  • Assessment of systemic risks in IT project portfolio management

  • Development of prototypes and evaluation of application scenarios

  • Supervision of theses and support for courses

  • Application of topics in industrial projects

  • Basic research on publicly funded projects

 

   
What you should bring with you:  

 

  • An excellent university degree in economics, (economic) computer science, (business) mathematics, industrial engineering, natural sciences or related disciplines  

  • Interest in IT-related issues

  • Understanding current IT trends and technologies

  • Very good analytical skills

  • Interest in agile software development

  • Teamwork, motivation, initiative, motivation and flexibility

  • Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the dutiful assumption of responsibility

  • Very sure expression in both German and English

 

The required qualification must already be demonstrated in the application documents by means of corresponding certificates.
