Fraunhofer FIT - Industry 4.0

Scientific staff with doctoral goals at the University of Bayreuth in cooperation with the project group Business Information Systems of the Fraunhofer FIT (pay scale group 13 TV-L) The project group Business Information Systems of the Fraunhofer FIT works together at the Universities of Augsburg and Bayreuth. At the University of Bayreuth this is represented by the following chairs and professorships:

The Business Informatics project group of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT is part of a publicly funded research project on the topic of Industry 4.0 with the goal of developing a web application that enables companies to select and implement Industry 4.0 (Cyber-Physical) technologies Production systems). As a research associate, you will be instrumental in driving the project forward and further developing both your programming skills and your project management skills.


Your tasks:

  • Identification and Evaluation of Cyber-Physical Production Systems

  • Development of algorithms for the combination of cyber-physical production systems depending on company factors

  • Development of a web application project planning, project controlling, communication and reporting

    • Programming with an object-oriented programming language (eg Java, PHP)
    • Programming with scripting languages (eg JavaScript including JSON)
    • Development of frontends (eg HTML, CSS), backends (eg PHP) and data management (eg MySQL)
    • Dealing with frameworks (eg Spring MVC, JSF for JAVA and Yii, Symfony for PHP)
    • Development of algorithms for multi-criteria decision support
  • Administration of the developed web application

What you should bring with you:

  • A good to very good master's degree in computer science or related courses

  • Basic knowledge of frameworks for programming web applications

  • Advanced knowledge in object-oriented programming and in the development of front and backends

  • Very good analytical skills

  • Interest in agile software development

  • A solution-oriented way of working

  • Teamwork, motivation, initiative, motivation and flexibility

  • Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as the dutiful assumption of responsibility

  • Very sure expression in both German and English


The required qualification must already be demonstrated in the application documents by means of corresponding certificates.
