PhD scholarship in Library Impact at the Department of Design and Communication

 

At the Department of Design and Communication, a post as PhD student is available for occupation per. 1 March 2019. The 



PhD scholarship is part of the research project Library Impact: Providing a framework for assessing the value and impact of libraries. The goal of the PhD scholarship is a dissertation that contributes to the project by developing theory and / or testing methods. In its application, the applicant should consider the choice of library type, data sources, methods, research design, etc.



The purpose of the research project Library Impact: Providing a framework for assessing the value and impact of libraries is to explore quantitative and qualitative methods for evaluating and developing the value of libraries, in order to understand and, on the other hand, to further develop library services. This must be done by developing the theory and framework for the study, testing evaluation methods in collaboration with public or research libraries, and delivering results in tools and methods that can be made available to the library sector. For further details, please refer to the overall project description submitted on request. 



Good Danish knowledge is a prerequisite.



The Department of Design and Communication offers education and conducts research in design culture, interaction design, information science, IT, communication, business communication, tourism and library science.

Application, salary and employment etc.
The appointment as a PhD fellow is three years old and the employment terminates automatically at the end of the period. The placement holder may not undertake any other paid employment during the employment. 
Appointment as a PhD fellow takes place in accordance with the Circular of 10 November 2015 on the Agreement for Academics in the State - Annex 5, Protocol on PhD Fellow, Circular on the Agreement for Academics in the State 2015

 

The qualification requirement is a relevant, finalized graduate degree with good results at the application deadline.

The application must contain:

  • Special PhD application form, available here

  • CV

  • Project description on max. 5 pages (2400 per page per page)

  • diplomas 

  • Up to 2 of the most relevant publications. A pdf file is attached for each publication. If there are co-authors of a publication, enclosure declaration must be enclosed as part of that pdf file.

 

Application and all attachments must be in Danish, English or one of the Scandinavian languages. Only material in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and English will be assessed. A copy of original diplomas must be sent. 

 

Please bear in mind that we only receive pdf files. The individual file must not exceed 10 MB. We do not receive zip files, jpg or other image files. All pdf files must be unlocked and allow binding and must not be password protected. If you have more than one file for each field, combine the PDF files into a single file before uploading, as each single file can only handle a file. 

 

If the applications do not meet the formal requirements in relation to the vacancy notice, the faculty may reject rejections without further notice.

 

The application will be assessed by an expert committee. Each applicant will receive the part of the assessment that concerns the applicant himself. 

 

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant's qualifications, a conversation will be possible.
