Business Information and Decision Making Track


The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) is inviting applications from outstanding candidates to fill academic positions at the ranks of assistant professor, associate professor, full or visiting professor in the Business Information and Decision System Track. We are particularly interested in receiving applications focused on the following areas: 

 
  • Business Analytics (including Finance Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Human Resources Analytics, Healthcare Analytics, and other relevant areas) 
  • Data Science (Machine Learning, Data Governance and Security) 
  • Program/Project Management, Risk Management, and Forecasting 
 
Qualifications
 

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. (from an AACSB or equivalent accredited organization) or equivalent completed by the start date of the appointment. The candidate will also provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. 

 
Business Analytics/Data Science Job Description 

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institute in a discipline within specialization. 
  • A record of outstanding achievement in higher education and scholarship. 
  • Successful university teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels. 
  • Strong academic research record or strong potential for research publications. 
  • The MSc in Business Analytics program at AUB is unique in the region and at the forefront of providing students with advanced analytical training aimed at developing their ability to draw actionable intelligent insights from large streaming data, including data collection, preparation and integration, data modeling and solving techniques. The curriculum is applied in nature, integrating hands-on lab sessions, business strategy, project-based learning, simulations, and case studies. 
  • We are looking for candidates who could also teach the applied hands-on part of the program in areas of NLP (natural language processing), text mining, machine learning and deep learning/neural nets, and other techniques/methodologies. 
  • Working knowledge with programming languages (e.g. R, Python, Spark, Java, Stata), SQL and NoSQL databases, visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlik), data management and programming concepts. 
  • Conduct lab sessions to train students on the application of analytics concepts in practice, and computation/statistics aspects of the capstone projects. 

Project Management Job Description 

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institute in a discipline within specialization. 
  • A record of outstanding achievement in higher education and scholarship.
  • Successful university teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels. 
  • Strong academic research record or strong potential for research publications. 
  • High level understanding of project management professional certification and associated professional curriculum. 
  • Experience in working with people from different ethnic backgrounds. 
  • High level teaching experience in delivering training to corporate developers and IT professionals. 
  • Excellent communication skills, a commitment to the importance of scholarship and diversity, a spirit of entrepreneurship 
  • Familiarity with the new teaching media and professional project management analytics tools, visual communication and the need to equip students with the varied professional project management skills to succeed in an ever-changing media environment.
