Duties & Responsibilities

HBS seeks a Research Associate to partner with a faculty member in the Marketing unit on behavioral research projects using experimental and correlational methods in both the lab and the field. Research areas include but are not limited to: judgment and decision making, pro-social behavior, and pro-environmental behavior.


Responsibilities include:

• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while appropriately prioritizing tasks to effectively move research agenda forward;

• Managing IRB applications and approvals, datasets, and shared online file systems including all project study materials;

• Conducting diverse research tasks including preparing datasets for analysis, coding qualitative data, completing literature reviews, and running studies;

• Facilitating the running of studies by creating and organizing all study materials, scheduling lab time and participants, and troubleshooting problems;

• Responsible for some preliminary data analysis including graphical analysis, summary statistics, examining characteristics of the data;

• Assisting with the preparation of manuscripts for submission to research journals including accurately applying APA guidelines and accommodating journal’s particular submission specifications;

• In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, develop and manage project timelines and action steps, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met;

• Learning and implementing a wide variety of research tools including Qualtrics, Mechanical Turk, SPSS, Tobii eye- tracking equipment and software, collecting and handling saliva samples, Facial EMGs, and video and audio recording equipment.


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for a degree in behavioral science. One year experience in a behavioral research lab preferred; statistical training including the use of statistical software; familiarity with behavioral research methods and practices.

Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and learn new research skills independently or with limited guidance required; strong organizational skills; excellent verbal/written communication skills; ability to build and maintain relationships; team player.

Additional Information

This is a half-time term appointment starting July 1st, 2018 (or sooner) through June 30th, 2019 with potential for reappointment.

Half-time roles are benefits eligible and can be paired to create a full-time position.
