Adjunct Lecturer of Communication – Communication Strategies for Innovators and Entrepreneurs

The Master of Communication Management (MCM) program in the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California seeks a qualified Adjunct Lecturer to supplement instruction offered by our full-time faculty, specifically to teach CMGT-516 Communication Strategies for Innovators and Entrepreneurs.  In this course, students will assume the role of both entrepreneurial clients and marketing communication consultants, mastering both theoretical approaches and practical skills. Topics include ideation, articulating the mission and vision, using communication to differentiate from competitors, marketing communication mix, and pitching.  

Candidates must have substantial industry experience in marketing and/or entrepreneurial communication. Teaching experience in marketing communication, strategic and organizational communication, other fields of applied communication is highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education: A Master’s in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship or related fields.

Minimum Experience: 15 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education: A Master or Ph.D. in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship or related fields.

Preferred Experience: Teaching experience in marketing communication, strategic and organizational communication, other fields of applied communication. Demonstrated ability to coach and help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Work experience in related positions at start-up companies.

USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
