Adjunct Lecturer of Communication-Public Diplomacy and Race

The Master of Public Diplomacy (MPD) program in the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California seeks a qualified Adjunct Lecturer to supplement instruction offered by our full-time faculty, specifically to teach one section of PUBD-599, Public Diplomacy and Race in spring 2022.

Candidates must have substantial experience in public diplomacy, PD program development, foreign affairs, foreign affairs agencies, the domestic and foreign policy process, the history of race in the American context, and related issues of culture, identity, justice, equity, and representation. Work experience in national or global PD agencies and PD-related non-profits highly desired. Teaching experience in issues relating to Public Diplomacy, PD programs and policies, race in America, foreign policy, communication, and strategic communication is highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: A Bachelor in Communication, International Relations, Political Science, Public Diplomacy, American Studies, cultural studies, or related fields.

Minimum Experience: 10-15 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education: A Master or Ph.D. in Communication, International Relations, Political Science, Public Diplomacy, cultural studies, race and ethnic studies, or related fields.

Preferred Experience: Teaching experience in communication, strategic communication, international relations, political science cultural studies, race and ethnicity, and related fields. Demonstrated ability to coach and help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Work experience in related positions at national or global agencies, non-profits, or tier-one companies.

USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
