The Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California seeks a highly qualified adjunct instructor to teach JOUR 510: Arts, Culture, Entertainment. In this course, students have the liberty to choose their own stories. They are not assigned stories. They have to pitch, research and deliver original stories because they burn to tell them. The instructor has to be able to inspire, support and work one-on-one with students toward a goal and end-product that is publishable and that can be the crown jewel of their portfolio.


Seeking an adjunct instructor who straddles the arts and entertainment world. The candidate should have professional experience as an arts reporter or critic for at least five years, whose BEAT is the arts, with a firm understanding of Los Angeles, and a vast capacity to energize students.


Requirements for consideration include a B.A., B.S., M.S., or an M.A. degree in a related field.  Previous teaching experience is desirable.  For some courses, outstanding professional experience may be substituted for academic credentials.
